Overview
Scaling-up Organic Fertilizers Production for Sustainable Avocado Agriculture is the business partnership facility project in Tanzania funded by King Baudouin Foundations for the period of two years (2021 to 2022). The project is implemented by lead partner Guavay Company Ltd. (for-profit, fertilizer production) and project partner Kilimo Trust in two districts of Njombe and Rungwe in Njombe and Mbeya regions, respectively. The project goal is to change the standard of avocado production through application of organic fertilizer and is targeting 1,688 smallholder avocado farmers in Njombe and Mbeya region (of which 40% are women).
Project goal: The project goal is to scale up production of organic fertilizer production to meet local demand for fertilizers while in parallel contribute to improving the socio-economic conditions of avocado farmers.
