Grow A Tree Everywhere phase II (GATE-II)
The main goal of the project is to support Total
Energies EP Uganda’s Corporate Social Responsibility
initiative to promote fruit tree planting for home
consumption and livelihoods improvement in Buliisa
and Nwoya Districts.
The initiative aims to disseminate modern
technologies for Agroforestry
Our target is to plant
75,000 trees

of operations including
Project Affected
Persons.
Women headed
households will
especially be targeted
if they qualify.
Households in the 2 districts that own
land in the identified villages, sub-counties
and parishes. They must be willing and
interested to plant fruit trees and other
commercial trees as advised by district
local governemnt environment and forestry
officials.
Youth groups that own land and or
are heading households will also be
targeted
Target Beneficiaries
Tree species
Fruit trees that are suitable for the
agroecological conditions in the 2 districts.
For example, Mangoes, Citrus fruits, Avocado,
Jackfruit, Soursop, Cashew and Macadamia
Commercial timber species with short
maturity and market demand for
example, Albizia Spp, Markhamia Spp,
Giant Lia, Eucalyptus Spp etc

About Total Energies EP Uganda
In 2022, Total Energies EP Uganda (TEPU) implemented a tree planting project in Buliisa and Nwoya district targeting to green and improve the
environment as a step towards reducing the impacts of climate change in rural districts. The overall investment objective was to “build climate- ready landscapes by growing 100,586 trees on 250ha in public institutions e.g., schools, hospitals, road reserves, barracks. In addition, gendered
green investment campaigns were organized for 500 women and 1000 youths to plant over 10,000 trees on 25ha of land allocated to them by
schools, churches, and other institutions in the 2 operational districts.
