Kilimo Trust (KT) invites qualified consultants to provide Business Development Services (BDS) under the Women and Youth Economic Empowerment in Fisheries through Inclusive Market Access (WYEEFIMA) programme in Kenya.

About the Programme

WYEEFIMA is a five-year initiative led by TradeMark Africa, in partnership with the African Union’s AfCFTA and funded by the Mastercard Foundation. The programme aims to create decent jobs and improve incomes for women and youth by enhancing their participation in fisheries and seaweed value chains and cross-border trade.

Assignment Purpose

The consultancy will strengthen fish-related business groups and MSMEs by improving organizational capacity, access to finance, and market competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen governance and institutional capacity of fish business associations and groups
  • Provide training in business management, financial literacy, and compliance
  • Support access to finance and improve business readiness
  • Deliver marketing support including branding, packaging, and market access strategies
  • Enhance competitiveness in local, national, and cross-border markets

Scope & Coverage

The assignment will target 20 fish business groups and 9 MSMEs across key regions: Turkana, Western Kenya (Busia, Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya), and Coastal Kenya (Kwale, Kilifi, Taita Taveta).

Duration: 60 working days

Deliverables

  • Inception report and workplan
  • Training materials and reports
  • Bankable business plans for associations
  • Evidence of business formalization
  • Final consultancy report

Required Expertise

A team of consultants with experience in:

  • Business Development Services (BDS)
  • Marketing and market access
  • Financial advisory and MSME support
    Experience in fisheries/seaweed value chains, cross-border trade, and working with women and youth is highly desirable.

  • Technical proposal (max. 10 pages)

  • Company profile and relevant experience
