EAMIAT Project Strengthens Food Safety in Eastern Uganda

Through the Enhancing Access to Markets for an Inclusive Agricultural Transformation (EAMIAT) project, Kilimo Trust is equipping grain producers in Sebei, Busoga, and Bugisu with life-saving knowledge about aflatoxins—naturally occurring toxins that pose major health and trade risks.

Funded by AGRA, the campaign blends:

• Localized radio broadcasts

• Community-led trainings

• User-friendly educational materials

By promoting safe postharvest practices and improving grain quality, the project is unlocking access to high-standard regional and export markets, while reducing public health risks.
