Members of the Kilimo Trust board of trustees led by Bruce Scott and the management led by Dr. Birungi Korutaro from 23rd to 26th June 2025 visited Rwanda and paid courtesy visits to partners and the work implemented in Rwanda through different projects like the Rural Youth Employment Support (R-YES) and Kungahara.

The board and management visit was a key moment to cement partnerships that have been built with different stakeholders over the years.

It was also a fundamental opportunity for the members to understand the depth of the impacts that have been created through the different interventions.

The visit to Dukomeze Ubuzima cooperative which is predominantly people with disabilities enlightened the board and management members about what intentional interventions could bring to the community.

Due to the high level of losses incurred by these vegetable farmers, through the Kungahara project, the cooperative was supported with an onion dryer where 20-25 tons of onion can be dried in less than a week.

This support has tremendously improved the issue of postharvest handling but also earns the cooperative more income from the non-members that dry their produce in the dryer.

Jackson Sebahungu, an R-YES project beneficiary who was trained in entreprenuership and is now operating a milk processing unit was a testament that with the right skills, youth can thrive in agribusiness.

Other interventions that were visited like the charcoal cooling facility in Jenda in Nyabihu district demonstrated local and affordable solutions to local problems in Rwanda.
